First Lady

Judy was born and raised in the Bahamas. After high school, she graduated from the College of the Bahamas and the University of Miami with a degree in Cytology. She worked at the Princess Margaret Hospital for 30 years as a Cytotechnologist before retiring in 2004. In 1984 Judy was certified as a Cytotechnologist by the International Academy of Cytology (IAC) in Quebec, Germany. She continued her education in Cytology and cancer care by attending annual conferences throughout the USA, the Caribbean, South America, and Canada. In 2011 Mrs. Ward-Brown completed another degree in Clinical Management. She is a Certified Medical Coder. Judy served as president of the Cancer Society of the Bahamas for 11 years, a position that allowed her to travel extensively throughout the Bahamas, the Caribbean, North America, South America, and Europe. Through her leadership, the society raised annually over $250,000 in donations and fundraising. She led the society in the building of a $2.5 million (20,000 Sq, Feet) Bahamas Cancer Care Center, which was paid off before retiring as president. In 2005 Judy was called out of retirement by the Bahamas Government Ministry of Health to be the Director of the nation’s first Cancer Clinic which serves the entire Bahamas. Her responsibilities included advising patients, the community and keeping statistical records of all cancer-related deaths in the Bahamas. She also produced an annual report on cancer in the Bahamas for the Ministry of Health. Mrs. Judy Ward-Brown represented the Bahamas government and the Cancer Society as a conference speaker and lecturer on cancer care throughout the Bahamas and the Caribbean, including,  Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad, Turks & Caicos. Judy recently relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma and is the wife of Rev Vanzelen G Brown, pastor of Greater Union Baptist Church, Tulsa, Oklahoma and is the mother of one son, Jyles Carter. Judy and Pastor Brown are parents of four, Harmony, Vanzelen Jr, Jyles, the adopted daughter Natasha Brown and grandparents of Te’via and Quan. Judy enjoys cooking, movies and serving others.
